MINUTES of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING National Insulation Manufacturers Association New York, N.Y. June 6, 1968 The meeting was called to order by Chairman R. W. Barnhart OTHERS PRESENT Philip-Carey Pittsburgh Corning Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft NIMA The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed program of the New York Academy of Sciences as it pertains to the insulation industry. The May lU, 1968, New York Academy of Sciences Meeting was reviewed. Following discussion, it was agreed that: 1. The Insulation Industry Research Council should attempt to contain its activities to asbestos. If the issue of other insulation products is brought up, it should be deferred until such time that a complete program has been developed for asbestos. 2. A program should be outlined relative to purposes and objec tives, and budget. 3. With respect to budget, the share contributed by the unions, contractors, and the manufacturers should be determined. The amount to be contributed by NIMA shall be based on the amount reported to Price Waterhouse and pro-rated accord ingly (asbestos category). 2 If mineral fiber is involved, the amount contributed shall be based on the amount reported to Price Waterhouse and pro-rated accordingly (mineral fiber category). The ffIMA Health & Safety Committee shall be offered as the communications arm for the Council. The representatives of Jfailip Carey Corporation and Pittsburgh Corning Corporation were in agreement with the foregoing. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
