I> 31 "DANGER" TAGS AND LOCKS (Cont'd) 3. PERSONS AUTHORIZED TO REMOVE Only :he person whose signature and payroll number is on the tag mav remove "Danger" Tags. In the event of unavoidable absence of the signer, the Craft Superintendent under whose super vision the signer worked or the Area or Division Engineer of the area involved may remove tags. 4. RESTRICTIONS "Danger" Tags (a) Only one person may place signature, date and payroll num ber on a "Danger" Tag. Any number of "Danger" Tags may he attached to a valve, switch or device to properly protect persons or crafts involved. Operation is prohibited under any circumstances until all tags have been removed. In the case of an electric device, the electrician's tag is to be the last tag to be removed. Persons removing tags are responsible for the satisfactory completion of the work they were doing for operation, including reinstallation of guards and making sure ail persons affected by the tag being removed are so informed and warned. No work is to be done on any operable equip ment. until operation of same is prevented by use of the "Danger" Tag. All tags are to be destroyed when removed. (b) When the device has been accepted by the Operating Depart ment. the Construction Department tag will be removed by the person who has signed the tag, and a similar one attached by the proper Operating Department authority. Tags in stalled by the Construction and Operating Departments may of necessity overlap. (Construction positively will not accept equipment or lines from operations prior to their having been made safe from process haxards.) 5. WARNING Any person who operates a valve switch or device to which "Danger" Tags are attached will be subject to immediate dismissal. The foregoing applies likewise to unauthorized removal of "Danger" Tags. 6. RESTRICTED AREA Is an area, building or workplace where the number of men. kinds of crafts and specific nature of work, time of the work and con ditions of doing the work are subject to special procedure and special authorization.
