Vincent; Beckman Bir-at National Building Cincinnati, Ohio Dear Mr. Beckmans In accordance with our telephone conversation I am reporting to you in writing the general ro0ux of our inves tigat ion of a group.of men who have ho on engaged in insulating hoses with the Eagle-Picher insulating material* On our trip East we examined twenty-seven m e n all told in ITewark and in r?hite Plains* The nhysleal examinations, the laboratory examinations, the x-ray examinations and the analyses of the blood and excreta of these Individuals .for lead and arsenic, gave substantially negative results* The men were in a good state of health and gave no clinical evidence of lead absorption, while the tests on their excreta give findings within the range for normal individuals outside of the load trades* We have observed the manner in which thoso men work* We have made tests of the dust concentration in the atmosphere in connection with various types of work which they carry out* Under certain conditions of high dust concentration in the air, the me n wear masks. Under other conditions where the dust concentration is m u c h lower, they do not wear masks* Even under these latter conditions, how ever, their exposure to dusts is very much greater than that which could be anticipated in the case of any householder* Moreover, a number of these men have had prolonged exposure (that is for years) a d should thus give findings typical of severe and prolonged exposure* All of the above data are being put together in the f o m of a report which will be ready within two weeks.
