Co., Ruberold, Armstrong Cork and last minute additions of Hoppers and Johns-Manvil1e representatives. The Moderator was 0. W. Powers of Lincoln, Nebraska. Addex, Flintkote and Ruberold were prepared for this panel and showed slides of their product application which were very help ful to their presentation. FLIMTKOTE - Dr. Berry discussed the Monoform System and showed slides of various steps in different applications. No mention was made of Bonds. It is well known that 10, 15 and 20-yr. bonds are issued on Monoform Roofs. He mentioned that the glass fibers are treated with a wetting agent, the asphalt in the emul sion has a Softening Point of 100 F. and that the emulsion film is slow breathing permitting water vapor to pass through the film. RUBEROID - E. L. Ostic discussed the new TNa200 Roofing Membrane and showed some excellent slides of various applications. The TNa200 consists of a film of Dupont's Tedlar which is an inert material 2 mils thick that is combined with a special asbestos felt. It is supplied in 5-sq. rolls 36" wide with a 2-1/2" sel vage and is applied with a 3" side lap. A 2" wide finishing tape is also supplied to be used over all end and side laps. The weight of the material is approximately 12 pounds per square. It may be applied with either hot asphalt or cold asphalt cement. Asphalt may. be removed from the surface of the material with any solvent. It has an expected life in excess of 25 years. Ruberoid is reluctant to start bonding but will bond TN&200 for a 10-yr. maximum. Mr. Ostic was a little vague on the cost of such applications but stated that the extra cost of the material is minimized be cause of the lower labor cost. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. - Mr. A. A. Dunlap, Jr., Manager of Roof Sales, discussed the Armstrong F/A Roofing System in a general manner without benefit of slides. Mr. Dunlap brought out the :) following points: 1. The F/A Roofing System is not intended to replace large roofing systems. 2. On non-combustible roof decks it has an Underwriters Class A rating and on combustible decks a Class C rating. It is not recommended for use over Roof Insulation. 4. It will protect against slight or normal breaks in a deck surface. 5. It resists heat or cold. 6. It Is a decorative roofing system. 7. Estimating an installation assistance is available to all customers. .8 It is available in 49 colors, plus white and black* 9. Estimated cost of this system applied is from $40-70 per square. 10. Use of this system results in large savings in cost of metal or gravel stops or base flashings as are required by ordinary Built-Dp Roofs. 11. Armstrong will not issue a bond on this system. 12. It was indicated that the P/A Roof System will not require recoating for a period of 20 years. JOHNS-MANVILIB - Mr. Stafford discussed the new J-M Lasto Saf System which is about to be announced. Prom what I could under stand* this consists of certain materials bonded to a special asbestos felt with a glass backing with various types of cement for applying. It weighs 47 pounds per square and has an Under writers Class A label. It can be applied at the rate of 8 squares per man hour. It will be bonded for 20 years with a Penal Sum of $25 per square and a Bond fee of $2 per square. !|^ No slides or literature were available.
