I, duPont de Hemours Wilmington, Delaware _ Dear Doctor Lubs: This morning I was talking with Mr. Philip Shuey about a case which I am pre^&^ifeg for trial and he sug gested that I write to you requesting.information which he was not able to give me. My client is a mechanic who was employed disas sembling wrecked automobiles from which parts were sal vaged for further use. Washing these parts of grease and corrosion was part of his duty. His employer fur nished him for this washing, gasoline containing lead (tetra ethyl). His hands and probably other parts of his body were frequently wet with this gasoline. After several weeks, possibly months, of this employment he developed lead poisoning with the characteristic par alysis of wrists and ankles. Can you advise me what percentage or proportion, by weight or volume of lead is present in gasoline sold for automobiles. ?i/here can I obtain literature showing that tetra ethyl is dangerous when used in the manner I have des cribed. Ho one is involved in this case except my client and his former employer, a local auto wrecking concern.
