Shimakawa - Kobe Steel, Okubo Mel Dauyette NON-ASBESTOS BRAKE LINING BONDING Engineering has revised the brake lining bonding procedure on propel brake shoe assembly drawings. This is due to field reports of cracking of non-asbestos linings. The non-asbestos linings are more brittle than the old asbestos linings. ---The -revised bonding procedure is essentially the same as before with two exceptions. First, the instructions now state that the linings may crack if the adhesive film thickness is not uniform. Second, the option of applying heat to speed up the adhesive curing process bias been deleted. The adhesive must be cured only by air drying at 60 F or above. The affected drawings are: 915N228, 915N229, 915N231, 915N243, 915N244 and 915N245. MD/dds cc: J. Holz F. Langenohl R. Profio K. Scheuren T. Weber M. Werych Hamischfeqer P&H SCF-P&H-2220 ME0423
