Best, Maddy Madeline Morris Executive Scheduler Office of the Administrator Ex."6 ] (d) From: Matt Mazefsky [mailto:Matt.M3zefsky@rosebudmining.com1 Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 9:58 AM To: Morris, Madeline <morris.madeline@epa.gov> Subject: Meeting Request - Rosebud Mining Company Ms. Morris: Good morning, I am General Counsel of Rosebud Mining Company. Rosebud is an underground coal mining company, with operations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. We employ about 750 people and have 20 mines across those 2 states. As an underground coal operator, we often face issues relating to the EPA's regulatory oversight of the coal industry. We would appreciate an opportunity to talk with the Administrator and his staff about some of those issues. We believe an open dialogue could be productive to both parties. In such a dialogue, Rosebud would be able to Sierra Club v. EPA 18cv3472 NDCA Tier 5 ED 002061 00142582-00001 offer on the ground insight that the EPA may not otherwise have, and at the same time, the EPA could offer real time feedback about issues that are important to it. If the Administrator has the time and willingness to meet, Rosebud is generally available for a meeting after July 10th and during the month of August. Our CEO, Cliff Forrest, is interested in attending the meeting, as is our Manager of Permitting (John St. Clair) and Manager of Engineering/Land (Rob Higbee). I too would appreciate the opportunity to attend the meeting. We have a ready outline of some of Rosebud's issues, concerns, and ideas. Please let me know if you'd like me to forward that outline. We thought the outline could lead to a more efficient discussion, but did not want to forward it without your approval. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
