Gary Jones D. R. Hise........................................ ................ ... .......................................................4/24/86 VINYL TANK CAR LABELING
Our records search did not reveal any infcmation concerning warning labels on vinyl tank cars prior to 1977* We complied with DOT regulations for tank cars and Ed Begnaud (now retired) of the Cleveland Office was the person we looked to for direction in interpreting details. We looked for a copy of the pre-1977 DOT placards that were standard for VC1 cars, but could find none. In 1977, OSHA, required a warning on the car stating "Cancer Suspect Agent". This warning was on an adhesive label attached to the manway dome housing. In this location any personnel who hooked up the car for unloading would see the sign. Sorry we could not be more helpful.

VC4 SHIPMENTS TO MCNSANTO
... 4/11/86 .
Attached are Calvert City Shipment Reports showing that we shipped Vd to Monsanto in 1967 and 1968. We could find no quality reports for any of these shipments, so the location being shipped to is unknown. All sources used to try and find the locations met dead ends.
The information you wanted on VC1 tank car labeling prior to 1977 is being researched. We expect to have material on this subject by late next week.
