Patti--
On background:
EPA has information about the recycling rates for various containers and packaging which includes metal caps, but does not break it out to that level of detail. Although these can often be recycled, it really does vary by jurisdiction and the equipment used to sort the recyclables. Many jurisdictions may have special instructions for recycling caps and lids, so consumers should check with their local program before dropping these into the bin.
Best,
Tricia

Subject: Recycling bottle caps and jar lids
hi
I am a reporter writing a feature about recycling metal bottle caps & jar lids
The feature is for environmental and recycling website Earth911.com
I understand rules may vary with different recyclers, but any general information about tossing, recycling or reusing caps and lids would be appreciated.
Also if any statistics are available, that would be wonderful.
Thank you Patti Roth
