FMSs were generated by
adding a measured volume of field sample to a container spiked by the laboratory with the target
na analytes prior to shipping sample containers for sample collection. FMS recoveries within method
acceptance criteria of 100+30% confirm that "unknown" components in the sample matrix do not
aimee significantly interfere with the extraction and analysis of the analytes of interest. FMS concentrations Ten ie Peishh must be at least 50% of the sample concentration to be considered an appropriate spike level. The
reference standards for PFOA and PFOS in the field matrix spiking solution consisted of linear and
