My first response was how few folks he has talked to by this point. However, I have no problem with the list he has proposed. I thought he said that the list would expand based on the conversation- i.e./ additional folks to interview would emerge as he proceeds. I know he proposed a make-up of the group but I also thought the things he learned about Anniston would in part drive the final make-up of the group. It seems to me that we are to early in the process to talk about make-up. As to an on plant facilitator. I assumed he would guide us for the first few meetings and since this is new to us this would help to determine who would be the longterm site facilitator. I have not given it much thought but the two likely candidates are either Robert Jones or Alan Rutherford. As to a realistic time for a first meeting- based on where we are in the process it would appear that we will be doing well to name the CAP by the end of 1st quarter 1996 and perhaps the first meeting by end 2nd quarter 1996. I faxed to you in early November a list of the community members Mike Elliott has spoken with and those he has identified but not yet set up meetings with. I don't think he intends to talk to everyone on the list (some 25), but please review it to see if there is anyone whom you would prefer he not contact at this time. Once he finishes his interviews, we need to discuss with him appropriate makeup of the committee. He recommended four residential neighbors, two neighborhood based businesses or a local minister, two people working on neighborhood or social service concerns (?), a member of the LEPC, 2-3 city wide environmentalists (I don't think Anniston has that many), 1-2 academics with enviro science or public health backgrounds (?), and a neighborhood person working on environmental issues (?) . The third issue is selection of a facilitator whom Elliott can train from the start. He suggested a plant person. There will be a few spaces with covered parking meters along the curb. You can't park there and leave your car, but you can stay with your car. I'll be there before you so you shouldn't have to wait.
