Draft Guidance on Environmental Impact Statements Includes
Environmental Justice Factors In a draft document that EPA recently made available for public comment, demographics, economic situations, human health and risk issues, and cultural differences are included among the factors for EPA to consider when preparing Environmental Impact Statements (EIS). The guidance will apply to EISs prepared by EPA to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act, which applies to major federal activities. Comments on the guidance are due to EPA by September 30.

<Y EPA to Develop Superfund Relocation Policy At the urging of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council, EPA has decided to develop a Superfund Relocation Policy by the end of 1986. The Agency has already conducted a Relocation Roundtable to air community concerns and is currently conducting a National Relocation Pilot Project in Pensacola, Florida. EPA will also consider development of a policy or guidance on relocations conducted outside Superfund authority.
