introduction
Va " Incombustible Gypsum Sound Deadening Board is a new concept in Sound Control, offering high STC ratings, combined with strength and economy. It can be used in wood and melal stud partitions, as well as in floor-ceiling assemblies. The product is a unique formulation, and is easily identifiable by its green face paper. G-P Incombustible Va " Gypsum Sound Deadening Board has been tested in several assemblies, both floor-ceiling and partitions, and some of the significant test results and details are contained in these pages. These sound tests were conducted under laboratory conditions where controlled environment reduces variables to a minimum. Joints of G-P Va" Gypsum Deadening Board do not need joint treatment for these ratings. Since Georgia-Pacific Corporation does not have prior knowledge of specific building design, and its construction or the methods of application under specific job conditions, no warranty of field performance is made.
Incombustible--Unlike other Sound Boards, this product is made of fire resistant gypsum.
Low Cost--Can obtain 1 hour fire ratings and high STC ratings with Vi " G-P Firestop" as well as 5/e " G-P Firestop*. This results in lower cost partitions.
Strong The Va " Gypsum Sound Deadening Board gives the partition added racking strength, and when combined with Vi " or Vs" Gypsumboard, gives a tough combination that will withstand much abuse.
Eternawall--Several of the following assemblies have been tested with Eternawalb" vinyl surfaced gypsumboard to provide the facing layer with added durability.
Important: These tests were made under stabilized laboratory conditions. In an actual building, every effort must be made to eliminate noise leaks and flanking paths. A recognized sealant, or equivalent material should be used over top and under bottom plates or tracks. Doors, windows, outlet boxes and other variations from the tested assembly will affect the sound rating. Careful construction practices should be followed if these listed STC ratings are to be obtained.
