subject PREMIX TOPPING - NON ASBESTOS
In response to the increasing concern about asbestos in joint compounds, we want to move ahead on our program to produce Premix Topping without asbestos. This will provide a topping compound which can be sanded on the job without putting asbestos fibers into the air.
The attached formula for non-asbestos Premix Topping has been successfully used to date on one Bay Area and one Seattle job. Additional job usage is under way in both areas.
Request that George James manufacture one batch of this Premix Topping, formula code J-6807 dated 6/10/74. Check the material at Santa Ann plant and send a sample to Tom Smith for a research check.
Request that Bob Olson advise George James where to ship this batch of non-asbestos Premix Topping for sale to a customer. Following successful use of this first batch. Bob Olson is requested to schedule additional orders for sale with George James to confirm satisfactory job performance of the non-asbestos Premix Topping.
This product is made with ground raw gypsum, regular PVA emulsion for binder, and special workability raw materials added to replace the asbestos.
