I believe that this booklet will be of great assistance to you in your efforts to produoe only safe glazes for dlnnerware. Unfortunately, there is no simple test for determining the amount of lead which is leaehed from glazed surfaces. We advise that hobbyists using lead glazes on dinnerware have the ware tested by a competent laboratory or that they use only approved glazes under appropriate firing conditions. If you wish further information on the technical aspects of the use of lead in ceramicware, I suggest that you contact Mr. J. F, Smith of lead Industries Association at the address on the letterhead.
