Good afternoon, Attached is a request from Jeff Farrah, CEO of the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA), for a meeting with Secretary Duffy at USDOT on May 20, 2025. The meeting would include CEOs and other senior executives from leading autonomous vehicle companies that are members of AVIA. We plan to discuss the need for USDOT to advance a federal Autonomous Vehicle framework and provide AVIA's recommendations for policies that would constitute such a framework. We also hope to share information and answer questions about the state of the AV industry in the United States, such as the number of autonomous miles driven and the location of testing and deployment. Thank you for your consideration and please reach out with any questions. Ariel

AVIA's mission is to advocate for the safe and timely deployment of autonomous driving technology. We are the unified voice of the diverse companies working toward a world where safe and trusted AVs increase road safety, boost supply chains, and improve mobility opportunities for all. Our members are the leading companies in autonomy, technology, ridesharing, and freight movement. Our members include Aurora, Bot.Auto, Cavnue, Cruise, Discount Tire, FedEx, Ford, Gatik, International, J.D. Power, Kodiak, Lyft, Motional, Nuro, Stack, Tier IV, Torc, Uber, UPS, Volkswagen, Volvo, Waabi, Waymo, and Zoox.
The meeting on May 20 would include several CEOs and other senior executives of leading autonomous vehicle companies. The meeting participants and our broader membership have come together on a forward leaning proposal called SecurinE American Leadership in Autonomous Vehicles, which lays out several key areas for the Department of Transportation to advance safety, economic growth, and supply chain resiliency in the United States.
AVIA is committed to working collaboratively with the Department of Transportation to ensure the U.S. transportation system is safe, efficient, and supports economic growth and public safety. Given the ongoing developments in the autonomous vehicle industry, we believe a direct dialogue would be highly valuable.
We appreciate your leadership and the support you have expressed for the promise of autonomous vehicles. AVIA is eager to contribute our expertise and insights to help advance shared goals. Please let us know a convenient time for this meeting, and we will gladly accommodate your schedule.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to the opportunity to engage in a meaningful discussion.
