Readthese red-lead recommendations HE exposed position of water Ttanks--and other steel struc tures similarly placed--makes them particularly difficult to protect. This extreme exposure too often causes a failure in the paint film. Especially is this true when the paint is such that it tends to lose its elasticity. Under the action of sun and weather, a paint of this kind becomes too hard. The film is then liable to crack open, leaving the metal exposed to corrosion. Pure red-lead paint, properly mixed, is the solution ofthe problem. Mix it on the basis of 40 pounds of Dutch Boy paste red-lead to a gallon of linseed oil--equal to 2A gallons of oil to 100 pounds red-lead. Use either A raw oil and TA boiled oil, or raw oil with A pint good drier added. This paint will become as hard as the paint ought tobe--and no harder. Furthermore, it will keep its elas ticity, expinding and contracting with temperature changes without cracking. The chosen method of m etal protection Pure red-lead gives complete protec tion against: corrosion to steel work of any kind. It sticks close to the metal, forming a tough, durable film. Engineers everywhere depend on pure red-lead for metal protection. Many of these engineers prefer Dutch Boy red-lead--pure, highly oxidized, uniform. Dutch Boy red-lead is obtainable in either paste or liquid form. The liquid comes in the natural orangered for next-to-metal coats and in browns, greens and black for finish ing coats. The paste comes in the naturalorange-red, and canbe shaded to dark colors. We maintain a special technical staff to help you in the solution of painting problems.
