NEW S/1R E L E A S E FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW YORK, DECEMBER 28, 1965 - National Lead Company has annouced the following appointments in the paint division, effective January 1. Richard C. Savage has been named production manager and Raymond L. Whitney, technical director. Both will have offices at New York and will serve under the direction of Allan K. Adams, super visor of paint sind vehicle production. Richard J. Marklin has been appointed production manager, Pacific Coast Branch, with offices at San Francisco. Mr. Savage, recently manager of National Lead's San Francisco and Seattle paint plants, was first employed by the company in 19^9 as an industrial paint chemist at Los Angeles. In 195^ he became superintendent of the National Lead Company (Philippines) paint plant at Manila. In 1961 he was named plant manager of National Lead's Seattle plant and in 1964 manager of both the San Francisco and Seattle plants. Mr. Savage attended the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of the Philippines. He is a past president of the Los Angeles Society for Paint Technology. Mr. Whitney was first employed by National Lead Company in 1937 as a chemist in Technical Service Laboratories at Brooklyn. In 19^8 he joined the paint development staff of the company's Research Laboratories and in 1959 He was transferred to the New York office as technical assistant to the supervisor of paint and vehicle production. - more - 0000-NLI-000024692 2 Mr. Whitney was graduated from Middlehuiy College. He is a past president of New York Society for Paint Technology and member of American Society for Testing and Materials, and has served on various committees at both societies for a number of years. Mr. Marklin manager of National Lead's Los Angeles paint plant since 1964, joined the company as a paint chemist at San Francisco in 1942. He was named plant superintendent there in 1958 and was transferred to the Los Angeles plant in 1963* Mr- Marklin received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of Los Angeles Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Association and Los Angeles Society for Paint Technology.
