On January 21, 1981 Zonolite-Cambridge challenged the NIOSH vermiculite study as merely verification of what is already known (i.e.) exposure to asbestiform material is dangerous to health. g- On March 2, 1981 NIOSH informed Zonolite-Cambridge of a planned visit to the Libby facility during the week of March 23, 1981, and reiterated request for prompt submission of employee medical history data that had been asked for on January 6, 1981. h. On March 13, 1981 Zonolite-Cambridge informed NIOSH that a plant visit during the week of March 23, 1981 would not be good. i. On April 27, 19*1 NIOSH informed MSHA of Zonolite- Cambridge' s objection to the Libby study. NIOSH sent a copy of correspondence to Zonolite-Cambridge. 3* On June 29, 1981 Zonolite-Cambridge commented to MSHA on the April 37, 1911 NIOSH correspondence. It also provided follow-up data on a April 11, 1981 meeting with MSMA which requested information on the Libby health surveillance program and how Zonolite could aid MSHA in discharging statutory obligations. Finally it confirmed a July 8, 1981 meeting with MSHA to dis cuss the proposed epidemiological study at Libby. k.
