It contains, I believe, an objective and straight forward review of the asbestos situation in the United States today. AIA/NA had the opportunity to provide comments during preparation of the document. The principal purpose for publishing this Fact Sheet as this time pertains to a situation in Libby, Montana, where amphibole asbestos has been found in vermiculite. The vermiculite mine was operated by W.R. Grace prior to its closure in 1990. Alleged health related injuries in Libby have been the topic of a number of news stories in the media over the past few.months. Additional copies of the Fact Sheet are available on request.
