TEXAS 77592-0471 June 5, 1986 Mr. Eli Bell Executive Director Texas Air Control Board 6330 Highway 290 East Austin, TX 78723 Re: Renovation Notification Dear Mr. Bell: This is to notify you, as required by 40 CFR 61.146, that Union Carbide Corporation, Old Ridgebury Road, Danbury, Connecticut 06817, as owner, plans to engage in renovation activities as described below: Insulation will be removed from the 1st and 2nd effect columns located at Bldg. 94 in the plant at 3301 5th Avenue South, Texas City, TX 77590. Approximately 238 square feet of insulation is involved and the equipment is approximately 18 years old. Removal of the insulation is scheduled to start on June 23, 1986, with completion by July 30, 1986. Procedures to be employed in the handling and disposal of the asbestos material will conform to the requirements in 40 CFR 61.147 and 61.152.
