(AEI). To date, all death information obtained by the ENSR investigators under the corporate identity Environmental Health Associates (EHA) has been withheld from AEI because we are not able to link individual cause of death information with the states from which this information has been obtained. If we were able to identify the specific deaths for which the investigators obtained information from New York City, we could remove this information, and transfer the remaining data to AEI. Although all states with which EHA had confidentiality agreements have granted permission to transfer all death certificate information to AEI, we have withheld death information on all of the approximately 1,500 deaths until approval is obtained from New York City. Your approval is critical in our forwarding to AEI the master computer tapes containing death information that, according to Dr. Mundt of AEI, may include a very small number of deaths (possibly about four out of more than 1,500) occurring in NYC. We certify that no death certificates from the first update are available to us and we have no means to link individual death information on the master computer tapes with New York City or any state. However, should you be able to identify from your records any deaths for which the study investigators obtained information, we will ask our subcontactor to remove such information from the database prior to the transfer. Your cooperation in allowing us to transfer the master tape that contains very limited death certificate information (name of the deceased, the date of death, and the cause of death) to AEI will enable AEI to proceed with this important study in the most expeditious manner.
