Schmitt - Rochelle Park Consmisr Product Safety ccmdo'icr Baa oa Patching Compounds Oa July 29 the Consumer Product Safety Comission issued its proposed baa oa patching compounds containing asbestos fiber. Xn publishing this proposal, the Comission requested comments by August 29. Following receipt of tbs comments, the Commission will hold a hearing and will then issue the final regulation. The ban will taka effect 30 days after the date of publication of the final rule. This could result in an effective date of October 15. The baa as proposed will apply to products in coanerce on or after the effective data of the ban. Zf asbestos containing patching compounds have not been cos^letely eliminated from our inventory, it is suggested that this be accomplished as soon as possible. Any remaining inventory if sold on or after the effective data of the ban will be subject to repurchase by The Flintkote Company from our customers.
