Al'f-h Sl-L itfwl April 29, 1935 HS&EA Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Monitoring at Institute Plant Attached are the results of asbestos exposure monitoring conducted on April 23, 1985 while construction employees stripped approximately 200 ft. of old insulation from an assortment of different size steam lines which had been removed from a large caustic reservoir at the MIC unit. The lines were laid out on the ground for ease in stripping and the surrounding area was barricaded and signs posted designating the potential asbestos hazard. Four construction employees were used on the job with two insulators to do the stripping and two laborers to wet down the insulation and to clean up. All employees wore disposable respirators, coveralls, boots, gloves, and face masks while working on the job. All samples were found to contain levels of asbestos fibers well below the permissible exposure level of 2.0 fibers per c.c. of air. Please notify all employees of their exposure results.
