Grace & Co. for support of a research program related to their vermiculite mining operations at Libby, Montana. I enclose a copy of the grant application and protocol in which you will see that the program comprises four projects (3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4). It is our earnest hope that these projects will complement those which NIOSH has underway and that our activities will not retard yours in any way. It was agreed when we met that it was desirable that our research groups should keep in close touch and share information so far as possible. On p. 13, I refer to our hope that you will nominate one of your group to participate periodically in our meetings; we would be happy to reciprocate. Of course it is for you to say who would be most suitable for this task but I did wonder whether an environmentalist might not be a good idea. I say this only because all the studies of this population 'dependJtCthe end on the quality, of the exposure^assessments./ Patrick.
