We have been experiencing a loss of heat transfer oil and we have not determined if the loss is chemical or mechanical. However, we suspect a ruptured tube in the oil cooler. * Past operation has been at ^00-425F, but we expect to raise the temperature to 500F in the near future. The oil is recirculated through the jacket of our reaction vessels at a flow rate of about 100 gpm. The system is operated vented to this atmosphere and is alternately heated and cooled over 18-20 hour cycles. Bayomet type electrical heaters and a shell and tube cooler are used.
