See the attached letter. . You cannot be an officer and member of F-3 unless you are a personal society member, or the Dana Corporation reconsiders their company membership. I am requesting our membership department to write to your president pointing out the values of company membership. He regret this oversight, and are enclosing a membership folder containing the information and the form you will need to re-apply on this basis. " We were glad to have the opportunity to review the Victor Division situation with you as we're naturally very much concerned that you had decided to reduce your support for the activities of the Society despite the arguments for continuation we presented in our letter of 18 December. You obviously were not aware of ASTM's membership policy until I mentioned it during our dis cussion, and you will find this spelled out on page 9 of the folder and the application form for individual membership. I thought I had covered this in the letter, but now recall I was confident a review of the value of ASTM to your operatipns would suffice. We understand your problem, and will be willing to go along with a Per sonal Membership for your division now with the condition that a Sustaining or Industrial Membership be established by the Victor Divisions or the Dana Cor poration as soon as possible. The Dana Corporation's company membership in ASTM has also been discontinued, and at your recommendation we are addressing a copy of this letter to Mr. Warren W. Rasmussen, Director, Product Research and Engi^. neering, Dana Corporation, Toledo, Ohio in the hope he will want to establish a company membership now to satisfy the requirements of the membership policy and permit participation on the ASTM Technical Committees by each of the Dana Divi sions. The Society loses money on each of its individual memberships, and obviously needs the additional fiscal support of a company membership to continue its service to industry.
