D. :OSHA -- Weekly Update The following actions have taken place with regard to the proposed OSHA Standard on Occupational Lead Exposure: . 1. October 8, 1975 - Letter submitted to Hr. Burt M. Concklin of the U. S. Department of Labor requesting documents and information under the Freedom of Information Act. 2. October 9, 1975 - Letter to Mr. Russell M. Roberts of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare requesting documents and information under the Freedom of Information Act. 3. October 17, 1975 - Letter to the Docket Officer of the U. S. Department of Labor requesting that the period for comments on the proposed standard be "extended from December 2, 1975 to January 9, 1976. ,4. October 23 1975 - Receipt of technical proposal from Charles River Associates to evaluate the economic impact of proposed OSHA Standard. The proposal was immediately circulated to the Steering Committee with a deadline for comments of October 29, 1975. ' 5. October 24, 1975 - Receipt of response from Dr. John Finklea of NICSR regarding LIA request of October 9, 1975 for information under the Freedom of Information Act, Dr. Finklea estimated that approximately . 1,300 pages of materials would be submitted to LIA as soon as they can be assembled. 6. October 28, 1975 - Receipt of following documents from the Center for Disease Control in response to request of October 9, 1975: 1. A reprint from the March 1975 issue of Lancet on ''Neuropsychological Dysfunction in Children with Chronic Low-Level Lead Absorption". 2. A reprint from the January 1975 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine on "The Epidemic Lead Absorption near an Ore Smelter". 2- 3.
