July 29, 1943 (IS) Mr. John Schaefer, Ethyl Corporation, Chrysler Building, New York City 17. * Dear John? I am sending you herewith a copy of a memorandum distributed to physicians at the Dye Works and Baton Rouge plants on the subject of women In industry. As indicated in the memorandum, it was formulated jointly by a number of us who are interested, and it expresses the general policy which we think should be uniform as between du Pont and Ethyl. This is sent to you for your information, and in my feeling it 'should not be circulated beyond your own immediate group. How ever,! am sending Mr. Bond a copy of it for his Information, since we have discussed a number of these points together at Baton Rouge, and since they have already developed certain mechanisms for handling some of their internal problems. There Is no clash In policy. I think It Is well for r. Bond to know what the medical men have agreed upon, since in that way no clash can develop inadvertently. I should follow your suggestion with respect to any further dis tribution of this memo, but I think it is just as well not to have it distributed too far> since it Is medical policy best put into effect by the respective medical men at the plants. If you have any comments or suggestions on this score, do not hesitate to let me have them. Cordially yours, RAK ef Enc. Robert ' A 7 Kehce J"M. R i KJr 0001007
