He will direct your washing (whether there is room in the classifier). He will notify Guards that you are using firewater. Generally, washing will take place at the middle sump of the classifier. 2. EMPTY TAR BUGGY. (operations function) Follow procedure for emptying tar buggy (see wtusop63). Tar buggy must be emptied before washing can be started. Close bottom valve after buggy is completely empty. 3. INJECT WATER-INTO BUGGY. (mtce function) Inject water into buggy through the vent nozzle. When a level in the buggy is established, open the bottom valve and allow the buggy to wash for about 10 minutes. Then close bottom valve and introduce N2 similar to unloading procedure. Open bottom valve to drain buggy. (Operator will introduce N2. ) 4. OPEN TAR BUGGY, (mtce function) Using a pressure demand respirator, open manway on back of tar buggy. Check to be sure that bottom valve is opened. Visually inspect buggy for cleanliness. 5. REMOVE ANY SOLIDS THAT REMAIN IN BUGGY AFTER WASHING. (mtce function) Secure a container which is obviously in good condition. DRUM ANY SOLIDS FOUND IN BUGGY. Prepare a label or have owner of buggy provide a label for any drums that are generated. (See Environmental Procedures Manual sop#9 for container labelling procedures.) Prior to filling a drum, a label must be placed on it. A maximum fo 55 gallons of waste may be accumulated at any time. This means that as sson as the drum is full, it must be sealed with a ring and locking nut. The filling of the second drum cannot be started until the first drum is sealed. Arrange for removal of drums from classifier to permitted drum storage @ South Terminal. Drums must be removed within three days of the accumulation date marked on the sealed drums. 7. HOUSEKEEPING Wash area of any spills that remain. Roll up hoses that were used.
