Summary of Business Covered:
Prints of the proposed duct and hood layout for the feeder and builder areas were reviewed and preliminary approval (pending a more thorough review) was
received from Mr. van Home. The property adjacent to the plant (site of the proposed new plant) and the south end of the present facility were physically reviewed and suggested, as proposed locations for the dust collector. It was agr ed
to consider, for purposes of submitting an appropriation request, placing the unit on the property adjacent to the plant. The exact location would attempt to minimize any probability of relocating the dust collector, should plans, for the proposed new plant be approved.
The subject of retrieving fibers picked up by the dust collection system was discussed and it was mentioned that the proposed eyelones should be of con siderable aid in this respect. A method of fiber retrieval could result in a better utilization of material and reduced costs, and would be worthy of further study.
While touring, the plant, the mineral wool feeder used at Tyler was reviewed and several structural deficiencies (cracked beams and bowed uprights) were brought to the attention of Central Engineering-personnel. During the'tour,
it was suggested that analysis of builder work elements and a rearrangement of
duties might increase building productivity. Tyler had initiated such a study, several months ago, and increased efficiency by utilising a third man on some pipe
sizes. --nr0022^11.1
