A cclim atio n P ro ced u re The b l u e g i l l s u n f i s h (Lepomie m aazvehirus) w e re o b t a i n e d from a p riv a te h a tc h e ry t. S tock f is h w ere h e ld in a fib e rg la ss holding tank f il le d w ith c a rb o n -filte re d w ell w a te r a t 14-15C . A d a ily p h o to p e rio d o f 16 h o u rs lig h t and 8 hours dark w ith a 30-m inute tr a n s itio n p e rio d was m ain tain ed th ro u g h o u t th e a c c lim a tio n and te s tin g p e rio d . The f is h w ere fe d T etra-M in d a ily , food being w ithheld 48 hours p r io r to and throughout th e t e s t p e rio d . F ish w ere a c c lim a te d f o r 14 days p rio r to te stin g . An a c u t e s h o r t - t e r m ( 9 6 - h o u r ) s t a t i c b i o a s s a y w as p e r f o r m e d on FM 3 9 2 5 . C a r b o n - f i l t e r e d w e l l w a t e r o f known c o m p o s i tio n was used as th e d ilu e n t (A ttachm ent 1 ) . These s tu d ie s were perform ed in r e p l i c a t e . O rganism s used in th is study were c o n sid e re d to b e g e n e ra lly h ealth y and fre e of d isea se. The Daphnia magna u s e d i n t h i s s t u d y w e re o b t a i n e d on A p ril 19, 1978 from th e Mogul C orp. T e st te m p e ra tu re s ra n g e d from 18 - 20C, pH v a r i e d fro m 7 .8 - 8 . 2 pH u n i t s a n d o x y g e n s a t u r a t i o n a t 96 h o u rs in th e in d iv id u a l e x p e r im e n ts w ere 34 and 56%. In t h i s r e p l i c a t e d s tu d y , LC-0 v a lu e s w ere n o t c a lc u la te d s in c e th e s e v a lu e s would ex ceed th e w a te r s o l u b i l i t y l i m i t s o f FM 3 9 2 5 .
