CORNELY REFERRING TO LETTER OF VINYL CHLORIDE MONOMER SHORTAGE Dow will not commit to supplying our estimated monomer requirements to satisfy February consumption and relieve our low inventory position. Dow has further advised that they cannot purchase monomer on the outside to supply our needs. We have located a source for up to 3 million pounds of monomer at 4%C per pound. This subject has been fully discussed with Messrs. R. W. Koch and R. A. Riley. Mr. E. T. Burgess has been instructed to order 1 million pounds of monomer through Diamond Shamrock at 4%q per pound, and we believe it is F.O.B. Cleveland. Freight penalty, if any, can be determined at a later date. Mr. W. P. Bray advised Mr. Burgess that we are to inform his office of the penalty we will incur as a result of this purchase.
