WATSON Secretary f CMA 066492 The regular neeting of the Executive Committee of the Manufacturing Chemists' Association of the United States was held in Room 517, The Chemists1 Club, 52 East 41st Street, New York City on Tuesday, February 9, 1943 at 11;C0 A.M. Young The minutes of the January neeting were duly approved as sent to the members. II. TREASURER'S REPORT The report of the Treasurer for the period January 1, 1943 to January 31, 1943 was reviewed, and On motion, duly made and seconded, it was VOTED* That the report be accepted and placed on file. III. M.C.A. SAFETY COMMITTEE The Committee reviewed the report entitled "Recommended Procedure For Reporting and Classifying Personal Injuries" prepared by the M.C.A. Safety Com mittee dated February 1 and previously submitted to the Executive Committee. It was pointed out by the Chairman that there were seme differences between classification by the National Safety Council and that of the M.C.A. Com mittee. The report was approved in principle and the Secretary directed to ad vise the Chairman of the M.C.A* Safety Committee to report on the results of his efforts to harmonize the differences between the M.C.A. report and that of the National Safety Council. It was the feeling of the Executive Committee that a similar classification should be used for the purposes of comparison. IV. CONTRACT RENEGOTIATIONS ACT The Secretary read a letter from a member of the Technical Information Division of the Price Adjustment Board of the War Department asking if we have criticisms or suggestions concerning methods of the Board engaged in renegotiation of war contracts. Following a review, it was the feeling of the Committee that price nego tiation involves an individual firm in each instance and that the Executive Com mittee did not have any criticisms to submit to the Eoard. V. INDUSTRY PUBLIC RELATIONS For the information of the Committee the Secretary reported that a book was being prepared on the part played by the chemical industry in the war effort. CMA 066493 18B S-240 This book is being written by Mr. William Haynes, who is on a tour to pick up in formation appropriate for the subject. VI. POST-WAR PLANNING The report "Preparing for High Levels of Employment and Productivity" was discussed at length, copies having previously been mailed to each member of the Executive Committee. Subject continued on the docket. VII. MISCELLANEOUS 1. Office of Technological Mobilization. The Committee was advised that a new bill, S. '>07, setting up an Office of War Mobilization, included the features of S. 2721 of the last session of Congress providing for the federalization of research under an Office of Technological Mobilization. The Secretary was directed to file an appropriate brief opposing this bill along the lines of the statement filed under S. 2721, with particular reference to that section of S. 607 relating to an Office of Scientific and Technical Mobiliza tion. The M.C.A. Patent Committee is requested to advise on the scope and content of the brief. 2. Business Conditions Report No. 39 Business Conditions Report No. 39 was reviewed.
