The Thermal Unit System of Space Heating
The line includes unit heaters, blast coils and concealed radiators for a wide range of uses.
Integral Heating Section
The outstanding feature of the Thermal Unit is the one-piece aluminum-alloy cast ing which includes the steam channel and extended heating surfaces from inlet to outlet as an integral unit. There are no
tance that the heated air is projected. The large size of the core and the high velocity
of the air induce rapid steam condensation and rapid release of heat units. Conductivity of heat is rapid with minimum penetration or conduction losses.
The louvers are designed on the airplane principle, assuring unusual efficiency in directing the air currents. They are hinged separately to secure various angles o( deflection.
Motor is standard type, enclosed and generously rated, quiet and durable. Fan is four-blade aluminum construction, rivetedtoaxle hub and built for longservice.
The assembly is enclosed in a trim, sheet metal cabinet as illustrated. It may be suspended from steam line or installed on wall or ceiling. Brief operating data and dimensions are given below.
Thermal Unit Coolers
joints, welds, flanges or soldered connec tions to open up as the metal expands or contracts. This construction withstands water-hammer and other destructive forces. Even freezing in service cannot damage it. 'All Thermal .Unit castings are tested to 450 ;lb. hydrostatic pressure before ship ment.
Stream-line Core
Airplane-wing design of the steam core cuts down resistance'to the passage of air through the channels between the fins, while the smooth surfaces, rounded edges and parallel spacing add yards to the dis-

"Automatically Defrosted"
. The prime cooling surface of Unit Coolers is limited, therefore quick de frosting is necessary.
The Thermal Unit Defrosting equip ment controls the suction line--when ice forms on the cooling surface the restriction ' of the air-flow opens a switch operating the suction line cut-off valve. The fan is con stant. The back pressure created defrosts the unit immediately.

Thermidaire Units are made with capacities ranging in size from 138 sq. ft. equivalent direct' radiation to 3350 sq. ft., rated at. 60 degrees enteringtemperatureand 5 poundssteam pressure.
All units use the Thermidaire high-pressure heating elements, which have been tested to more than 600 pounds hydrostatic pressure, and are guaranteed for 150 pounds steam working pressure.
These elements are built entirely of cold-rolled copper, fused by a special process which makes the element an integral piece. This construction solves all expansion problems and is leak-proof.
These units are backed by a service that makes friends.
