This is a status report on our revised asbestos citation of 7-10-73.
1. Issue a check for $1,340.00 to cover proposed penalties.
Completed - Request for check form was Issued 7-12-73 for $1,340.00.
2. Establish a complete respirator program to Include:
A. Instruct all employees in the proper use and care of approved respirators.
Completed - On 7-20-73 represenative from respirator supplier gave instruction to employees and Plant Safety Supervisor.
B. Provide individual lockers for storage of respirators for each employee.
In Progress - Lockers ordered 7-10-73. Will be in use when received.
C. Provide a regular inspection program to check on condition of respirators.
Completed - Program established 7-23-73.
D. Have assurance that all employees are using respirators where required.
Completed - Respirator use in designated areas is a condition of employment as of 7-30-73.
3. Establish a program for maintaining the area in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition as follows:
A. Clean the inside ares of dust accumulation.
In Progress - Two large tanks no longer in use were removed 7-27-73. Complete Clean-up scheduled 7-28-73.
B. Install portable dust collection on the bag packer.
In Progress - Suggested type vaccum sweepers ordered 7-9-73.

Completed ~ Enclosure completed 7-8-73. Air velocity has been increased from 50 feet/min. to 275 feet/min. New YOrk State had requested an Increase to 200 feet/min.
F. Use plastic bags with proper warning labels to dispose of all asbestos waste.
Completed - Plastic bags and labels for empty asbestos bags provided on 7-27-73. Large disposable cartons provided 7-26-73 for dust collector and floor sweeping dust.
4. Provide employees with protective clothing such as coveralls or similar whole body coverings, gloves, and foot coverings. In Progress - Disposable coveralls ordered 7-25-73. Disposable foot covering in Plant on 7-27-73, will be used when coveralls arrive. Gloves already in use.
A. Provide single change room seperate from work area with double locker system for each employee.
In Progress - Seperate change room completed 7-26-73. Double lockers for each employee ordered 7-10-73. Change room system will be started when lockers are received.
B. Enforce use of protective clothing system.

Completed - Final monitoring tests were completed 7-23-73.
A. Full Chest X-rays and respiratory tests on all exposed employees.
Completed - Tests started early in July and completed 7-24-73. Entire tests will be rescheduled for July 1974 if we are still using asbestos at that time.
6. Provide a plan and time table for Installation of engineering controls to prevent employee exposure to asbestos dust.
Completed - Plan and time table submitted 7-18-73.
In addition to the above we had already completed the following:
A. Provide all employees with approved respirators. B. Post caution signs at all approaches. C. Affix caution labels to all dry products.
