NATIONAL LEAD COMPANY NEWS| LETTER y^y No. 370 June 21, 1957 JENNINGS SUCCEEDS D0ND0KF AS MANAGER GF METAL PURCHASES DEPARTMENT John J. Jennings has been appointed manager of the metal purchases department. Mr. Jennings succeeds Ernest R. Dondorf, vho retired on May 31 after more than 50 years of service. Mr. Jennings started his Company career in 1931 with U. S. Cartridge Company, then a Company subsidiary. In 1937 Mr. Jennings was transferred to National Lead's metal department. He became assistant to the manager of the metal purchases department in 1939* He served in the U. S. Maritime Service during World War II, being discharged as an ensign. Mr. Dondorf began his career in October 1906 in the offices of United Lead Company, where he was a bookkeeper, billing clerk, export manager and in 192k assistant secretary of that company. When United Lead became a part of National Lead in 1928, Mr. Dondorf was transferred. In 1939 he was appointed manager of metal purchases, the position he held until his retirement. COMPANY PAINTS USED ON "HOUSE OF THE FUTURE" National Lead Company's paint production staff was selected by Monsanto Chemical Company in the painting of their House of the Future in Disneyland, California, which had its official opening on June 12. All exterior and interior surfaces of the futuristic plastic house were painted with National Lead Company decorative coatings, formulated especially for the house. Research and development personnel of the Pacific Coast Branch worked together with Monsanto to develop an ultra-modern, all-purpose paint, suitable for either exterior or interior. Sixteen massive molded modules of reinforced plastics have been assembled to form the entire structure of the five-room experimental House of the Future. Ultra-modern furnishings and appliances were furnished by eleven other cooperating corporations. National Lead Company's "Dutch Boy" paints have been used exclusively throughout all of Disneyland since the start of construction.
