A brief review was hald on the results cf our tests on Australian Blue using
as a basis F. 3. Froetor's xceasoraadua of Kerch 25* 1958, which susacarlses
quality of Australian due over the past few years* Hr* Bovarth Indicated
that the uproar which Johns-^anville had raised In 1957 about the dropping
off of their quality was justified* and that it had resulted in their setting
up quality ocntrol checks* At the present tine they are not equipped with
the standard McHett test, but have e self-built unit in their central research
laboratory* Hand wash testa are used at the nine end staples ere sent weekly
for check tests to the central laboratory* They now have on order two KoHett
units* one t&ich will be placed at each location* and they expect to use this
ftr their quality control* Hr* Bovarth Indicated that they have at present a
relatively good agreement between their two teat methods and cur McHett
results* and their present practice is tc rescreen eny lots which do not
meet specification,

The Johns-Hanvill# modifications on the KoHett test (vacuus filtering system) and infra-red drier were shewn to Mr* Bovarth* and detailed drawings of each
given to hla for his use*
