With respect to the use of leaded naphtha as fuel for furnaces and boilers, I would suppose that there is some good reason for this in terms of fuel-handling facilities and operations. I cannot but wonder, however, whether, the reason is good enough, and what would be required to avoid this practice. Certainly, from the strict hygienic viewpoint it is undesirable, for the reason that it creates an hazard which need not exist. Despite the ease with fchich this hazard may be controlled (and itmay not be quite so. easy as you suppose) it is not good practice to invite hazard. This I say as a matter of principle, Knowing full well that there are conditions and circumstances which render the principle invalid in practice. When this is the case, one has to take it in stride.
