Those who attended are indicated by an asterisk. Blood samples will be taken for analysis for FC-143 from the following groups of people: 1. All present female employees in Teflon areas plus all female employees who have transferred out of Teflon areas since 11/1/79 (approx. 50). 2. All current male employees in Teflon areas (approx. 40). Item 1 will be done first and item 2 will be done if it appears appropriate based on the results from Item 1 and if this work does not interfere with higher priority work. A. A. Wright will be requested to arrange a schedule with the laboratory that will also perform analyses on blood samples from Parkersburg employees. By having all blood analyses done at one laboratory we can be assured of consistent laboratory procedure throughout and comparable analytical results on all samples. E. R. Purchase and D. O. Inslee will arrange to take these samples and have them transported to Wilmington. All current Teflon products will be analyzed for FC-143 by personnel in the Analytical Research Group under J.P. York's supervision. This investigation will include bleached and unbleached products as well as impregnated products. The analytical procedure that will be used is one recarmended by the Polymer Products Department which is specific for FC-143. Analytical results obtained with the recarmended procedure will be compared by J. P. Yuk with those obtained in previous studies on Teflon products. If significant differences are apparent, analyses will be made with the recommended procedure at selected proints in the manufacturing process to determine the level of PC-143. Such an analysis of the Teflon process was carried out several years ago (Report NO. SpAR79-3) but the analytical procedure was probably somewhat different from the current A recommended procedure. ooooos SPR000096 EID714013 R. L . McNeer to determine if there has been any significant change since the study in 1978-79 which would result in increased potential for exposure to PC-143.
