Attached were two letters, one written by Surgeon General Parran to Dr. W. R. Stovall, Director, Aviation Medical Ser vice, Civil Aeronautics Administration, and the other written by Dr. Stovall to the Surgeon General. There is no indication on these that any corres pondence has been sent to you. Therefore, I am immediately taking the matter up with you before making any reply. I am sending you attached copies of both of these letters in order that you may be entirely familiar with the proposal which is to increa.se the tetra ethyl lead content of commer cial aircraft gasoline from 3 cc to 4.6cc. In view of our previous conversations relative to the fluid content of aviation gasoline, I would assume that this would meet with your approval. However, the whole problem is o.f such impor tance to nublic health that I am not assuming anything so I am bringing the whole matter up to you for your opinion.
