V/.A, re:- Crocitiolite sonnies - Colonial Mine - V/ittenoom. I have this day airfreighted to you a pac.uxge containing three tins in which I have placed crocidolite samples as per your recent instruction. The samples sere token from a loser seam stone drive, and from two -stones on the Doner setua, those places having been selected because they had been fired comparatively recently, and no other work had been attempted since the firing. The samples were taken from a cleaned section of the faces over a distance of some fifteen feet. An ordinary sample pick was used and the fibre was taken from each seam across the face where possible. Because the fibre had a tendency to become furry when hit with the point of the pick, I endeavoured to discard all furry material so as to avoid any risk of contamination. I used a new section of venturi duck for a sample sheet and as each piece was seicted I handed it to Inspector Hunt who placed it in a new clastic bag. later the contents of euch bag were emptied into another new plastic bag which had been placed inside a tin. These tins had previously been cleaned with petrol, a detergent, and then boiling clean water. Underground Manager, Mr. J, Shanahan was present while the sampling was in progress. The samples were marked Vo.l, Vo.2, und Vo.3 and come from the following locations of the Colonial !.`ine between 10,0 a.ra. and noon on 27th .'icrch 1963.
