Tha meeting was called to order at lOtSO A.M. with Mr. Peters In tha chair. Tha chairman rawlawad tha progress toward tha basic objectives of tha white load campaign through pronotional efforts during tha oast twenty Bontha. Although tha Tieary objective to reverse the downward trend In tha eonsucptlon of white laad orr twenty-odl years had not yet been accomplished, one corollary objective, that Is, Baking white laad paint generally available to the public had at last been realized throurh the recent decision of the National Lead Cowpany to Join an Increasing group of paint manufacturers In the production of readymixed pure white lead paint. Private statistics Indicated a general decline In exterior paint sales during 1940, which was also reflected In a drop In the production of white lead. Indications are that the general availability of ready-mixed white lead paint, plus ex pected orders for national defense will result In a considerable in crease In production and sale of white lead during 1941. Tha aecratary had helped in procuring Oovamanmt business lately Involving probably the largest paint order In hlatory, with specifications requiring either 10O* white lead palrt or a minimum of T>< white lead In a le*d-lne-lnrt formulation. The chairman noted that the Government speciflcatlona paralleled the reeomendatlon of I the campaign, l.e., pure white lead or high lead content paint. eaBWigmapBPS* II 1 einaiaaBWpaiBi'waanpr.e |iaaa*. u s l p<? .b *.M'.:.".w m,,ie^wB|a.uMaM--m N 2944 i ini nisai iii imaat taafcian mm eisaaaiiawBtuaasa ) , uwjuiijf i MMajfliltiMiinrs idflhiWiMi --- aaiftf-'-ariiai.-.^v - ,r- 4HalMtitaSi LIA08907 Whit* Lead Promotion---------- ------ ~ -- - - - Program Mlmitas December 1?, 1940 -e- vmu m.isix Du* to th decline In whit# lead salts during th* p*it year and th* consequent reduction to b* expected In th* subscription* to b* received froa whit* led manufacturers during 1941, th* chairman submitted to budget- prep*red by th* Agency, based on expendltures of ttOO.O'K) and Ff3f,000 respectively.
