r&C-PK '' Subject; Guidelines to Preparation for Recognition and Evaluation of Occupational Health Hazards {REOHH) Course To: STUDENTS OF REOHH COURSE Feedback from previous students of the Recognition and Evaluation of Occupational Health Hazards (REOEE) Course has revealed certain areas where students have experienced difficulty. The major areas are: 1} Onfamiliarity with the units used for industrial hygiene or occupational health calculations, and the metric system. 2) Insufficient time for assimilating material presented in "hands on" laboratory exercises. 3) Lack of knowledge of Bell System Hearing Conservation, Lead or Asbestos Guidelines. To remedy these problems, the faculty members have prepared an information package for students as a pre-courre reading assignment. All of this information will be covered in the REOEE course, but your prior perusal will enhance our efficacy as pedagogues. (You read it first, we teach it better.) Every effort will be made to present the information in a form understandable to all, but there are several areas noted above which require comprehension of subjects which may be new or uhfamiliax to some. As a guideline for preparation, we suggest that you review the following: 1) Metric system units (attached). 2) Terminology used in Occupational Health Fields (attached). 3) Industrial Hygiene Sampling Synopsis (attached). 4) Laboratory Exercises for Noise, Personal Sampling Pumps, Detector Tubes, and Combustible Gas Detectors, (attached, read Purpose and Introduction). 5) Bell System Guidelines for Hearing Conservation (SP-78-11-304), Lead (SR-80-11-059), and Asbestos (SR-80-11-100) (available from your Company Safety Coordinator). 6.
