V., Chhaalluuppj ski DATE SUBMITTED! 11/20/45 ' 'TtyV-^/tyr' DATE ISSUED! 11/28/45 DUP050150768 Over this three year period, production was carried out in the semi-works for the most part, twenty-three batches'totalling 2600 ibs. being made there, three plant batches (800 lbs.) were also made* dll of this pigment was blended and sold; in June 1945 it was decided to discontinue manufacture of this pigment because it has always been an unprofitable item, and a cost analysis >4' indicated that ww if .il. mmtaetare could be carried out in the plant it ' would restaifr m, the 23semi-works batches made varied in slae from 72 lbs. to 135 lbs. each} the batch size was fitted to the equipment available at the time of manufacture, the usual variables were used to produce light or dark masstone pigment as needed. A number of batches were made from dye manufactured in the Hewark plant because Orchem could not supply regular dye. Quality of these batches of pigment were normal. During this period, three pleat batches of dye were mad . (para-ohlor-anlline-meta-sulfonlc acid --9 bata-oxy-naphthoic acid), these were struck on the K-7991 formula at 1.1 mol batch size (484 lbs. dye). Quality and yields were satisfactory, the dye was consumed in Rt-359-b and Rt-499-D. three plant batches, 270 lbs. each, were made; two of them from dye coupled at Newark and the other from purchased dye. All showed the usual blue tint which has been prevalent in the plant (see reports KK-39-288 and KJt-42-283). All of the semi-works and plant material made was blended to pigment which was standard except for a tendency toward slightly blue tints. RT-359-0 was officially obsoleted August 2, 1945 because of low sales volume and high cost. See Development Section Data Book, DSH-45-25* DUP050150769
