PLANS TO EXPAND TITANIUM DIVISION PLANT (ST, LOUIS) ANNOUNCED Plans for immediate construction of new facilities for production of titanium dioxide were announced by the Company today. The additio. aI capacity, expected to increase the present rate by 60,000 to 70,000 tons annually, will be added first at the St, Louis plant of the Titanium Division- Depending on reasonably prompt delivery of the necessary equipment first production will be realized from the new facilities wituin a year and full production within eighteen months. This new expansion follows closely upon post-war titanium pigment plant expansion completed by the Company and is in step with the substantial increase in demand for titanium pigments. With additional capacity for producing both "Titanox-A" and "Titanox-C", the oxide and calcium types of pigment,, the Company expects to be able to satisfy the steadily increasing requirements of its customers,
SPECHT JOINS NEW YORK OFFICE STAFF K, Co Specht has been named assistant to manager of sales, paints, pigments and oils of the Company, effective July 1, Mr,. Specht will supervise all mixed paint activities. He was formerly manager of the Southern Division of the Pacific Coast Branch. Henry J.- Whitson will continue in his present responsibilities as assistant to manager of sales, paints, pigments and oils, Fred McCarthy continues as manager of trade sales and R, M, Bennett as assistant manager of trade sales for the paint division,
STR0LE ON PENSION AND LIFE INSURANCE BOARD Luther R, Strole, manager of industrial relations for -the Company, has been appointed a member of the Company's pension and life insurance ' boardMr, Strole began his career with the Company in 1931 at the St, Louis plant of the Titanium Division, He became a supervisor there and in 1940 was transferred to the Sayreville plant personnel department. In 1945 Mr, Strole became director of industrial relations for the Titanium Division and in 1948 became assistant manager of industrial relations for the Company, He was appointed to his present position in
January of last year.
APPOINTMENTS MADE IN PACIFIC COAST BRANCH
E; L. Beenfeldt has been named manager of the Southern Division of
the Pacific Coast Branch, succeeding K, C. Specht,
J, W, Bowen has been appointed sales manager of the Southern Division
of the branch. Mr- Bowen was formerly trade sales supervisor of the
division,
W, L. Anderson becomes superintendent of the Melrose (Oakland) plant of
;he Pacific Coast Branch, succeeding K, J, Sanders, who will retire on
December 1,
All appointments were effective July 1.

Krueger, production manager of the St. Louis Smelting and Refining Division, has been named chairman of the Tri-State Division of the American Mining Congress, Western Division, national program committee State and district chairmen are drawing, up- the program for the- 1.950. Metal Mining Convention and Exposition of the congress to be held in Salt Lake City, August 28-31.
