Pierce: I am enclosing h e r e w i t h ^ copy of our medical record on your Mr. Our record will show that this man was examined on two occasions by members of my staff and that on the occasion of our last visit in April 1931, he had not been experiencing any appreciable exposure and so was not examined. There is nothing in the entire record to indicate even the vaguest suspicion of lead intoxi cation. At one time he was advised to wear rubber gloves when handling the small quantities of Ethyl fluid which h e .was using in Knock-tost demonstration s. There was no reason for doing this except that he said he occasionally spilled a drop or two of fluid on his bare hands. Under the customary conditions of work of the type he was doing, there is no occasion for loadexnosur and there is no reason to believe that Mr. had such exposure. If at any time a claim is made that he has had injury from the absorption of lead, it would be highly desirable at the earliest possible time to obtain samples of urine and faeces for analysis for lead. It would be undesirable to raise the question except as it is brought to your attention. In case such a think should develop, and you have an opportunity to have such samples obtained, you should notify me at once in order that I may send you suitable containers and proper instructions fOr collecting the samples.
