:...'% *>.r w *? *"*'; ,w1 1 O 0 Tumor A Nowell Limited Board Mooting * 7th March 1974 TAC Construction Materials Ltd* Item 4(h) 82 Use of Sprayed Asbestos Xt is reported by TAC that Minute No .8274 of the T&N Board Meeting on 2nd November 1972 records the Board's agreement that TAC should phase out Sprayed Limpet Asbestosi vhilo phasing in Mineral Voolt in the home market over the period to April 1974* and in overseas, markets over tho period to April 1975* Progress with the replacement of asbestos spray by mineral fibre spray has been slower than anticipated, mainly because of technical problems with tho latter; most but not all of those problems have been overcome and bulk supplies of mineral fibre that should bo suit able for most purposes will become available from April 1974 onwards* Xt will not bo possible, however, to change over com pletely to mineral fibro without substantial loss of businoss before about April 1975 in home markets, lo* one year later than previously intended* Similarly, overseas replacement cannot be effected without a delay of about a year, i*e to April 197&* Xt is proposed, therefore, that TAC should continue to carry out contracts using Sprayed Limnet Asbestos, and to sell fibre to third parties until uh - dates mentioned above, vhilo mineral fibros aro being phased in; unless this is done, TAC will lose sales which in the year to September 1973 had a turnover of 633,000, gross profit of 263,000 and trading profit of 144,000* 9 Approval /or the proposed action is now sought by TAC* i f i O i i 1
