Thus it is ti me for me to move o n ," Schnare sai d in the emai1 sent to senior agency and transi ti on offi ci als yesterday afternoon. "I wish each of you the best." Schnare said hi s resi gnati on would be effecti ve by close of busi ness tomorrow, He served on Tr um p's EPA transi ti on before becomi ng a member of the beachead team after the inaugurati o n . In a separate emai1 today to E&E News, Schnare said there was more to why he resigned from EPA. "The backstory to my resi gnati on is extremely complex. I will be wri ti ng about it myself. It is a story not about m e , but about a much more interesti ng set of events involvi ng mi suse of federal funds, fai1ure to honor oaths of office, and a 1ack of 1oyalty to the President," Schnare said. Beachhead teams are made up of temporary government posts meant to help settle a new admi ni strati on at different agencies. Its members, however, may remain past thei r 120-day appointments. Don Benton, who 1ed EPA's beachhead team, is expected to stay on as the agency's senior Whi te House advi se r. Sierra Club v. Pruitt has brought on several former ai des to Se n. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), includi ng Ryan Jackson as his chief of staff. Schnare is a former 1ongtime EPA employee who worked as an attorney in the agency's enforcement office. After 1eavi ng EPA, he was general counsel for the Energy and Envi ronmental Legal Insti tute. He has also di rected the Free Market Envi ronmental Law Cli ni c . In those roles, Schnare accused the Obama admi ni strati on of col 1udi ng with green groups to set poli c y . He also often sued EPA as well as universities under public records laws to seek informati on from cl imate scientists and government officials.
