OVERMAN-PROCESS MANAGER-CAT CRACKER AND GAS DEER PARK MANUFACTURING COMPLEX SUBJECT: AMBIENT ASBESTOS LEVELS AT CATALYTIC CRACKING UNIT Attached are the results of area samples collected at the Catalytic Cracking Unit to determine ambient levels of asbestos fibers. Samples were collected at various locations throughout the unit. The samples were collected on July 29 and August 1,1980. The analyses were performed by the Shell Industrial Hygiene Laboratory at the Westhollow Research Center. All of the 'results show that ambient concentrations of asbestos fibers in the unit are <0.01 fibers per cubic centimeter (f/cc) of air. The OSHA permissible exposure level for asbestos is 0.2 f/cc. The results of these samples should be posted in an area that is accessible to all persons that work in the CC-Gas areas. Table 1 is an acceptable means to transmit this information.
